This is the time of the year when certain teams play there hardest either to get into the playoffs or they’ve already made it. Some teams also get to play spoiler for teams that on the bubble and need to win on the road or have some other crazy scenarios play out. But this year has to be the year in a long time that there are several teams still fighting to get home field along with winning their divisions. AFC side, of course the Patriots ,Texans have pretty much sealed it up. Surprise surprise to anyone but himself Peyton Manning has the Broncos in the playoffs with the Andrew Luck led Colts nipping at their heels. The Steelers, Ravens and Bengals bringing up the rear. In the real conference NFC the Falcons, Niners and Packers have it pretty much sewed up. But the beast is always in the east and my Boys (Cowboys that is)and Skins are tied @ 7-6 fighting for the division but still behind the G-men @ 8-5. Crazier things have happen so I will make sure to keep ya’ll updated….Craziness!!
Sorry its been a minute since I’ve blogged. I needed some craziness. It came in several forms over the past few weeks. With the presidential elections. Pres. Obama 4 more years. Congrats to him. He’s definitely crazy but I think every politician has to be. To take on everything that they do is craziness. Thats enough political talk, onto the NFL. This week was awesome and craziness. Week 11 3 OT games, every team has at least 1 loss. The playoffs are starting to get talked about. Most of the divisions are far from being decided by any 1 team, and if the beginning, and the middle is any indication of how this is all gonna work out. It should be a most exciting and “Crazy” playoff race…..Craziness!!
October starts the MLB craziness. It started off with quiet the bang in the Wild Card game between the Braves and Cardinals game. With a crazy supposed in field fly rule (and if you dont know what that is. look it up and maybe you can explain to the MLB officials). It might have cost Atlanta the game and it was a terrible way for one Larry Wayne Jones a.k.a Chipper Jones to end his awesome , noble hall of fame career . The fact that the Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Nationals are in the post season is crazy. Baltimore right now as it stands is 1 game down to the evil empire New York Yankees. Who obviously feel real good going into the next 2 games. Seeing that Joe Girardi had an ace up his sleeve the hole time. Pinch hitting for Alex Rodriguez in the bottom of the 9th inning for the 40 years young Raul Ibanez. It will go down in Yankees history, up there with “Aaron bleeping Boone”. Speaking of aces, the Nationals are also down 2-1 in their series against the Cardinals. While their best pitcher and one of the reasons the Nationals are even seeing baseball live in October, instead of watching on Tv at home on their couches. So the front office will have alot of craziness to answer to with the hole stopping Stephen Strasburg after 166 innings was worth it. Craziness!!!
It will go down in history as the simultaneous touchdown , interception blunder or the Monday Night Game that brought back the real official. After the debacle that was week 3, from the safeties that were or weren’t, pass interference calls that were or weren’t. A referees hat that was thrown in the field of play that cost Kevin Ogletree (Wide Receiver for the Dallas Cowboys) a touchdown, also cost me fantasy points. After the dust settled from the craziness that was Week 3. We have the right officials on the sidelines now. But how long will we let Mike Carrey and Ed Hoculi have their honeymoon of making the right call or if its against your team the wrong one. Craziness!!
Replacement officials are being watched, mocked and criticized on every flag, review and non-flag thrown. The coaches and players seem to be getting fed up with the whole situation. Mike Tirico said it best during Monday nights game ” their like the substitute teacher.” All the players are pushing the limits on what they couldn’t get away with when Big Ed Hochuli was roaming the side lines. Should the officials really be the ones being blamed. Maybe they should be looking at who’s behind the whole thing. It looks like it might take someone getting hurt in one of many altercations that went on during some the games between players over the weekend. Or a very critical game that might have the outcome changed by an official who has a favorite team playing at the time. Craziness!!!
Week 1 in the books. What a week 1 it was too. From starting rookie QB’s, second year QB’s to long-snappers and of course the “Mistro” Peyton freaking Manning. What can you say about a guy that was away from team football for over 600 days. But played like it wasn’t even a hiccup. Peyton started in the huddle but by the game he was running the no-huddle offense like he had been in Denver the last 10 years and not in Indy. 5 rookie QB’s started week 1. Robert Griffin III was the only one to record a win. 5 second year QB’s started also and only Christian Pounder got a win against another second year QB Blaine Gabbert. Poor Travis Goethel, who is that you ask? Well he is the long-snapper for the Oakland Raiders you will hear about for the rest of the year. Travis replaced Jon Condo last night after Condo went out of the game with a head injury he got from one of his own players. Travis’s night would unravel after that. 2 snaps in the dirt, and blocked punt to go with it. Which really wasn’t his fault but he’s going to take the blame. 15 more weeks of this. So cant wait to see which rookie QB’s step up, which second year QB’s will have a sophomore slump, can Peyton “freaking” Manning really keep this up and how many Travis Goehtel’s there will be this year. Craziness!!!
So if you play fantasy football or if your one of those skeptics that laughs when your boyfriend tells you “Honey I have my Fantasy Football draft tonight so can we push back your Grandmas 99 birthday party till next week, I mean whats a few more days.” What happens in those few hours, takes any normal fan and transforms them into a super, over-reactive, sweaty nut job for 16 weeks. The tension that leads up to the draft order, the excitement of your first pick. Once is set let the trash talk begin. Friends, lady friends and now girlfriends are being turned into enemies. Theres nothing sexier than a girl that knows what she is talking about and not just watching the guys in the colorful uni’s and tight pants. Fantasy Football here comes the Craziness!!!
